The Hoxton Chicago is the third North American hotel property from the London based hospitality company Ennismore. As a critical addition to the urban renewal of the Fulton Market District, The Hoxton offers 182 guest rooms, and numerous places for guests and locals to meet, dine, and relax.
GREC intended for the Hoxton to reflect the current fabric of Fulton Market, so the exterior is clad in brick masonry with industrial-style punched windows. The façade is deep in relief to allow the shadows to accentuate its density. The punched windows of dark metal and glass pay tribute to Chicago’s industrial past, while celebrating new material technologies and innovations.
The main level is a free flow of spaces with a check-in lounge, coffee stand, lounge bar and dining room. Guided by GREC’s design team as the lead consultant on the project, avroKO crafted chic environments to house the food and beverage venues - the rooftop Peruvian-inspired restaurant Cabra Cevicheria, ground floor Mediterranean restaurant Cira, and basement level cocktail bar Lazy Bird, all operated by Chicago’s James Beard nominated BOKA Restaurant Group. Ennismore Design Group contributed the stylish guest room design. GREC also led the design and implementation of the Hoxton’s newly branded and hospitality driven meeting/coworking space, housed on levels three and four.
Sustainable and responsible design is in the DNA of GREC Architects, and the same commitment was found in the ownership group and the entire design team. With this responsibility at the core of the entire team of collaborators, the project is LEED Silver Certified.
