Dubai Silicon Oasis is a recent free-zone development in the Nad Al Sheba district of the city, to cater to the needs of high tech industries with advanced infrastructure and services. Located at a prominent corner of the development, this tower is comprised of 15 stories of office lease space interlaced with a 5-star hotel structure in a striking deconstruction of the uses. Office levels are clustered in ‘fingers’ of three levels each, allowing individualized corporate tenant identity within the whole.
The hotel structure is on forty levels, also clustered to provide multiple roof decks and stunning views of the city and desert. Alternate clusters are planned as extended-stay serviced apartments and luxury suites. Hotel amenities include multiple ballroom and conference facilities, fitness center and retail center with food and beverage venues. The swimming pool deck is dramatically placed atop the building podium.
Entry lobbies and vertical transportation of office and hotel uses are completely segregated, and each use has its own identity at street level. The design concept attempts to pose a number of ambiguities about the mixed-use typology: is this a single building, or two separate buildings, or seven buildings?
